Crannog Mara

Situated in the seaside town of Fairlie in North Ayrshire, our residential children’s house ‘Crannog Mara’ provides a nurturing and homely environment for up to three children and young people ranging between five to eighteen years of age, who for a number of reasons cannot live at home.

Children and young people who live at Crannog Mara are carefully matched to ensure that their needs are met. The team at Crannog Mara provide a therapeutic life space for children to grow and develop. Every aspect of the environment has been carefully designed to ensure the living space gives children and young people the best possible chance to experience nurturing care. Each child/young person is supported by a case team with an identified keyworker who works closely with the child/young person. The case management is overseen by our Manager to ensure that the children’s outcomes are safely achieved.

Within Crannog Mara, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach to our work. Our team benefits from input from Social Work, Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology and a diverse mix of residential carers. Our model of care provides a framework for the development of positive and trusting relationships, in a trauma informed manner. The skills, experiences, and qualifications of the team are capitalised upon to the benefit of the children and young people that we support.
